I feel that forums are great for using in generating visitors to your site; however this is possible only if you do it the right way. Remember that forum users are usually smart people who are good learners. The reason they end up in forums is to learn about things and to ask questions for help.

So if you can help them, and give them the information they are seeking, you will be able to earn their trust. And with this trust, these visitors will be more than ready to click on your signature, and thus pay a visit to your site.

May I remind you that forums are basically niche targeted where you have to join your niche forum of your expertise, to be helpful and write and post specific information. While writing, you have to remember that you don’t exactly know everything about the niche, but there are some things you know which others don’t. So you will be able to answer their queries, while teaching them.

While posting on the forum, don’t insert links or affiliate links to your website in the post. This is considered as spam; so instead, insert some generic links of helpful websites, which are related to your post.
You could also use anchor text in your signature with attractive and descriptive text that will make users want to click on the text. However ensure that the link takes them to the page offering whatever you offer in the text.
