Marketing tips for an effective pay per click campaign

Pay per click is a great online advertising tool where advertisers have to pay their affiliates whenever their advertised link gets clicked. It is basically based on keywords and key phrases that these ads are placed on publishers’ websites. Though this is beneficial to the advertiser, he has to be careful as too many click throughs, without any sales can burn a hole in their pockets.

There are a few tips I suggest to avoid burning of any holes. PPC advertisements have to be placed only on the top search engines like MSN, Yahoo, AOL and Google.

Learn and not fight with competition

Next point to remember is to learn from your competition as they have been around in the PPC marketing field for some time and have reached here after learning from their mistakes. I suggest finding out what keywords they use, and the kind of copy they publish.

Instead of concentrating on advertising your products in a single PPC advertisement, I suggest you working your campaign around a fast moving product while developing a strong advertisement for it.

Get friendly with customers

Interact with as many customers as possible as these customers are the people looking out for more features and policies in a product. On talking to them, you are sure to find someone who will be able to give you a great idea for your product and create a better feel to your PPC campaign.

Though it may be tempting, never enter bid wars with competitors. This is because this only leads to a cat and mouse fight between you two. Neither of you win in the end; instead it is the publisher who will be eating out of your bank balances.

Last, but not least, I suggest that you keep track of not only your advertisements, but also of visitors. This means you have to find out where customers come from and how much they spend on other sites. This information proves to be important in helping you devise a better second PPC campaign with better sales.
