Tips to find potential affiliates through Craigslist

Once you understand the concept of affiliate marketing, you will realize how beneficial it is to use the help of Craigslist in finding affiliates for your affiliate marketing business. The first thing that comes to mind here is to list affiliate opportunities in the jobs category of Craigslist.

However I have to inform you that this goes against Craigslist’s rules of posting jobs. So to find affiliates through Craigslist, you will have to do so using different areas of Craigslist.

I would suggest you looking up discussion forums that are related to your offer. However if you use this option, remember to avoid placing too many sign up links to your program as this will only spam the forum.

Get involved in discussions

This move will not only make you look unprofessional, it may also lead to the Craigslist moderators banning you from the forums. The best thing to do would be to get involved in discussions by giving logical and relevant contributions to it. Once you get to know the other forum participants, you can add links for more information about your affiliate offer.

Another tip I have to mention about getting affiliate opportunities through Craigslist is to look for affiliate programs here. I know that I did mention that it was against the rules, however sometimes, you will find such listings in the jobs section.

These ads are usually removed quickly from Craigslist. However if you act quickly, you will be able to take advantage of them before they get removed. Then of course, just like you place links in the forums, other affiliates too will post links to their affiliate programs. You may find something interesting to you in some of these links.

Post requests for affiliate programs

Another option you have with Craigslist is to post requests for affiliate programs in the services or resumes section. You will definitely receive some response and replies from people interested in getting more affiliates to their program.

Understanding affiliate marketing

So now, let’s have a run down on the concept of affiliate marketing. This is basically a marketing technique where business owners pay affiliates based on their performance in promoting their products.

Accordingly, the affiliate receives the agreed upon payment and can range from fractions of cents to some cents in PPC.

In the case of PPS advertising, the affiliate is not compensated when visitors just make a click on the coded link. It is only if the visitor buys something does the affiliate get credit. Payment here ranges from a few cents to a few dollars per sale, depending on the rate of the product, and the affiliate agreement.

I had provided guidelines to create sections and sub sections of an information product in my last blog. So now I will be describing how easy it is to carry on with its wriitng phase.

All you have to do is to basically work at filling out the spaces using material you had collected through your research. You have the option of writing out the information product on your own, or enlisting the help or services of a ghost writer, if you are not comfortable with writing.

You may have to edit and re-edit the matter to ensure that your information product relays exactly what you want your customers to read and learn on reading it. I suggest you leave the final draft alone for a few days, and then take another look at it.

You may find various points and changes to make to the draft with a fresh mind and outlook. It wouldn’t hurt you to send out copies to trusted editors to have a last look at your draft. There are usually last minute corrections to be made, before the information product is finally rolled out.

Choose the right time to roll out the information product

Remember that just like you place lots of thought and time in creating an effective information product, you have to also be careful in choosing the right time to roll it out. A wrong time release of the information product may not produce the desired effects.

So I have to say that creating an information product does take lots of time and effort. However on following a well thought plan, and with dedication and maximum efforts, you will be able to produce something fun and worth reading.

The first thing you have to do is to start with a quote. Remember that writing basically follows a path of inspiration. So any idea you have in your head has to roll out freely with a few images, sentences and concepts you can use in it. Once you know you are following the right path, you have to get a notebook, pad or your laptop to jot down whatever enters your mind.

Do some market research

Think of things related to your product, your product and anything that is valuable and required in producing your information product. If you are lost of ideas for your information product, you could do some market research to get an idea of what your potential customer needs or is looking for.

There are many affiliate programs around today which you can join, for additional pocket money. An affiliate program is basically run by, and for the benefit of a third party. This third party lets its affiliates advertise their products and services on their sites, and in return, pays the affiliate a percentage of all their sales.

It proves to be difficult to choose the best affiliate programs; this is why I have compiled a list of tips to help you make the choice. Choose the affiliate program based on the commission it offers. Basically the program should pay you up to 40% in commission, depending on the rate of the specified program or service.

Choose two tier affiliate programs

In addition to this, the affiliate program should have a two tier program where you get a percentage of the profits earned from the other affiliates who have signed up under you, for the same affiliate program.

One point I suggest when choosing your affiliate program is to check the affiliate cookies. It is the cookie that provides the website owner information about surfers to the website. Each cookie has a length of time attached to it which you have to check before joining an affiliate program.

If you join an affiliate program that offers you a month’s cookie time, each new person who visits your website has to make a purchase within a month and no letter. This is the only way you will be able to earn a commission, which is very difficult to attain, even if you have a website with a great ad copy.

The longer the cookie time, the better is the affiliate program

So choose affiliate programs that will give you cookies for a minimum of three months. This will increase the possibility of your making a sale by a minimum of 40%. Another important aspect of an affiliate program is its customer care.

The website that you intend to promote should be ready to work to the maximum to ensure that you succeed in your affiliate program. This is the form of customer care I refer to here, where it should also offer you pre written solo ads, videos, emails, etc. IN other words, the affiliate program should provide you with everything you need to sell your product or service. Without this, you may say you are promoting the wrong affiliate program.
